Are You In A Line Meant For You?
Being Aligned For Success.
Alignment is such an interesting topic, there is so much to review about alignment. There is first identifying what is is that you want to be aligned with, then there’s the act of only pursuing those things that are aligned with your ultimate goal, and finally, it’s being able to spot those aligned activities out in the world and to grab them and get them.
What’s For Dinner, Is It Aligned?
So, this may be jumping ahead, as you typically want to start your alignment process first by reflecting on what it is that your ultimate goals actually are. I also did a podcast episode on alignment, you can listen to it here on the Plastic Human Podcast. This daily thought is more about receiving opportunities and determining whether or not they will actually get you to your ultimate goal. Why I say “what’s for dinner” is because when something gets plopped down on your plate, you need to evaluate whether or not you want to eat it.
Are These Tasks In My Diet?
When someone goes on a diet, they usually do so with a specific goal in mind. This may be; to lose weight, to lower their cholesterol, to stop killing animals, or whatever some actual goal may be. Most people don’t engage in the process of being selective about their foods just for the sake of doing it. Now, someone who isn’t on a diet, well that person will eat a whole pizza, drink a 6 pack of beer, swing by McDonalds for some fries, or even stop off for that banana split. My point is, all those things are done for the sake of doing them alone. Unless you’re in a pizza eating contest or own shares of McDonalds and hope your order will help them meet their financial targets, then you’re just doing it for the “fun” of doing it.
Fun Doesn’t Mean Aligned
Sometimes we are just chasing biological rewards. Sometimes, we just want to be stimulated by the opportunity in front of us. So, when something comes across your plate, try only “eating” it if it’s in your diet. If your ultimate goal is to help people, don’t pursue opportunities that don’t result in your ultimate goal. If you’re just doing it for the money, that’s not aligned. Sure, you can come up with tons of excuses on how to justify that it is aligned. But if you’re not getting closer to your ultimate goal learn to say “no”. Only take on the tasks and challenges that get you closer to your ultimate goal. Give it a try!
